Previous projects
Kimberley Park Stage, Falmouth
Richards was awarded the contractA legal document signed by both the client and the service provider, which sets out the detail of the services to be provided, and any constraints, and how the project should be managed. We typically will use the JCT Design and Build Contract, depending on the service you choose. to build the new community stage in Kimberley Park, by Falmouth Town Council. It was our privilege to create an iconic structure in this beautiful park and a special moment getting to see it in use for the first time.
The structure consisted of a main stage with a retractable canopy on a galvanised steel frame, access ramp and perimeter stair. We also brought in a new three-phase supply to the stage and installed bespoke stone monoliths around the audience area which contain the soundstage audio and lighting points. However, the underground work on this project was extensive, as the water-table is very close to the surface here, and we needed to take extra care to ensure that the foundations remained in place.
We worked in close proximity to the general public on this project as the park remained fully open during the works. As such we had to be very mindful of our health and safety responsibilities.
Bar Lodge, National Trust
We were awarded the contractA legal document signed by both the client and the service provider, which sets out the detail of the services to be provided, and any constraints, and how the project should be managed. We typically will use the JCT Design and Build Contract, depending on the service you choose. to restore the beautiful Grade II listed Bar Lodge gatehouse, on the Penrose Estate, by the National Trust. The project included fitting new insulation and waterproofing, repairing and replacing various features which had deteriorated, and ensuring that the property looked exactly the same once we had left down to the last piece of moss.
Helston Light and Life Church
We were tasked to rejuvenate a newly acquired site in Helston for the Light and Life Church. The organisation needed a practical, light and airy space, that was equipped both for Sunday morning services, and use during the week for other purposes. A full sound system, kitchen, and baptism pool were part of our brief, together with a large precast concrete stairway to a first-floor meeting room and the creation of the pastor’s office on a mezzanine, separated by a full-height partition to the main hall. We were very proud to be a part of this project and prouder still of the end result.
Verdant Brewery, Penryn
We were contracted by local brewer, Verdant, to repaint the existing brewery in the company’s trademark colours, build a new concrete hard-standing area for external storage, create an improved fire escape at the rear, and install a massive 103kW solar array on the roof of the factory, improving their look, workflow, not to mention their eco-credentials. We’ll drink to that.
