James began as an apprentice mason, then worked for himself for many years.
James is particularly skilled at historic building restoration, and has been instrumental in the success of Richards. His wealth of experience, and ability to smooth over difficulties with both clients and suppliers, is invaluable and has informed Kurt, our director’s own approach.
He is a builder of the old school, but adjusts well to the changing demands of construction in the twenty-first century.
Outside work, James likes to paint- art rather than buildings – and is fond of a good saffron bun. He enjoys visiting his daughter and her family in Australia, but has no plans to retire.
